Environmentally Friendly Office Design

MWB’s buildings are refurbished to provide a healthy and natural work environment, benefiting from unobstructed natural light where possible. Adaptable integrated systems are prominent in the break out areas and meeting areas; all designed with efficiency in mind.

Smart use of lighting, ventilation, energy, and materials are core elements in designing sustainable offices.   To optimize on natural lighting and maximize on energy efficiency Works:space focuses on:

• Creating serviced office space planning that makes use of existing natural lighting
• Maximize natural light by controlling window coverings & coordinate lighting controls
• Installation of high quality & energy efficient lighting
• Infrared motion detectors for automatic lighting control
• Zoned energy controls, to manage low usage areas individually

There is an increasing call to take aggressive measures to reduce the impact to the environment caused by production and installation processes.  A carbon footprint approach to refurbishment keeps in mind the greener chooses.  As extra sustainable initiatives, MWB and Works:space also target:

• Sustainable sourcing (Specifying products with recycled or reconditioned content)
• Limiting onsite waste & noise pollution

Energy and Green Saving Measures in Place

New buildings pose less of an issue as we’re able to install solutions at the design stage, however older buildings have required us to go back to basics and be quite innovative to produce environmentally friendly offices.

We’re regularly in contact with our internal staff and clients to encourage them to switch off lights and equipment that is not being used. We’ve also hired a person whose sole role is to go round our centres out of normal working hours to ensure all unnecessary lights, air conditioning and photocopiers, etc, are turned off.

Technology has also had a large part to play in reducing the footprint and making our serviced offices environmentally friendly as possible, with new centres being fitted with passive infrared systems, and building management  systems to ensure facilities such as lighting, air conditioning and heating are only used when they are required.

We’ve been working closely with our maintenance service partners and  Total Environmental Management (TEM) to ensure we are doing all we can in our centres to save energy and improve our green performance.

MWB Business Exchange is also exploring additional green issues, such as waste management and water usage, to further reduce the company’s carbon footprint, and improve our eco-friendliness.

Recycling

We have a number of initiatives in place to encourage clients to recycle. Our serviced offices have recycling boxes in offices and communal areas to make the process as easy as possible.

Bottled Water

By analysing every process we do, we aim to make environmentally friendly offices. We only offer fresh water in glass bottles and not unenvironmentally friendly plastic containers.

We supply over 250 meeting rooms are supplied with still and sparkling water and organic apple juice.

We believe that by making more environmentally friendly offices we can together make a more sustainable work environment.
