If you want your employees to go that extra mile and work efficiently you need to give serious thought to the comfort off the office environment.  If you have a poor quality work environment you will get poor quality work from your staff.

There are some basics that you need to make sure you’ve covered:

Chairs – you need to assess whether they are comfortable for everyone.  Height is important as is girth.  Your employees are likely to spend around seven hours a day at their desks so chairs need to provide comfort and maneuverability.

Desks – here you need to consider space and to assess each person’s requirements you need to understand their day to day work practices.  Each employee needs as a minimum room for their notebook, monitor, keyboard, phone, papers and room to move their mouse.  Cramming people into tight spaces with no elbow room is a definite no no.

Monitors – these must at the right height and you need to assess if the person can see the screen properly.

Lighting – lighting can make all the difference to a comfortable office.  It needs to be bright enough so people aren’t straining their eyes but not too bright that it glaring onto the monitors.

Temperature – if a person is too hot or too cold their productivity will plummet.  Keep rooms well aired and use fans, heater and aircon systems to maintain an optimal temperature.

Space – declutter and make sure there is adequate storage to keep the office clean and tidy.

To keep things really simple get serviced office space.  Work stations are comfortably and stylishly outfitted to ensure your team has enough space and optimum work conditions to operate in.  Health and safety issues such as lighting is taken care of by the business centre manager so you can just get on with running your business.
