Watch Your Kitchen Ps & Qs

If you’re working in a serviced office you’re likely to be sharing the kitchen not only with other colleagues but other companies too. There is often an extreme lack of kitchen manners displayed when people work together – dirty dishes left for others to clean, crumbs left on the kitchen top and mouldy food left to rot in the fridge. Even the most upstanding responsible colleague can be spotted slyly leaving a buttery knife on the side of the counter!
There are however some simple rules that should adhered to so that kitchen rage can be kept to a minimum.Â
There’s nothing more enraging than going to the coffee pot and finding there’s only dregs left at the bottom. If you take the last cup be courteous and refill the pot. It would be very embarrassing if a client wants refreshment and you have to keep them waiting while the coffee brews.
Always clean up when you make a drink or prepare food. Even though a serviced office will have cleaners other people may want a drink or snack and no one likes to do this in a grubby kitchen. Throw away wrappers and wipe counter tops.
Microwaves are great but they can be source of much irritation:
- Do not heat up smelly food such as fish or spicy food.Â
- Make sure you wipe the microwave after use.Â
- Don’t be a queue jumper!Â
- Notify someone if the microwave is broken.Â
- If you change the settings on the microwave, reset them when you’re finished.
