MWB Group Holdings PLC and the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is a new regulatory incentive to improve energy efficiency in large public and private sector organisations.
Organisations have to purchase allowances from the government for each tonne of CO2 they emit and then each organisation is encouraged to reduce its emissions year on year. The success of this reduction will determine its position in a league table which will be published. All revenue from the scheme will be recycled back to the participants and the better an organisation does in the league table, the more money they will receive back from the recycled payments.
The scheme started in April 2010 and registration for the scheme must be made by the end of September 2010. The first year runs through to the end of March 2011 and then each participating organisation must submit an annual report and a footprint report before the end of July 2011 which details all its CO2 emissions.
MWB Group Holdings PLC registered for the scheme in August 2010 and will be working on the preparation of its footprint report through until July 2011. The group places considerable importance on energy efficiency and welcomes this scheme as an integral component in its drive for reducing carbon emissions and working towards a more sustainable future.
