Step 5 – Interviews
Once you have identified your shortlist of candidates they should be invited for interview. Many companies arrange all the interviews on the same day in order to keep diaries simple and to shorten the decision-making process, but this may not always be possible.
It is important that the person conducting the interviews is trained to ensure objectivity and transparency. There are legal pitfalls to avoid during the interview process, for instance there are legal restrictions on the types of questions that can be asked of candidates, so you must make sure that the interviewer is experienced and impartial.
You should have a clear list of questions that all candidates will be asked but you should also prepare for each individual interview by reading over the applicant’s CV and any additional material available such as personality questionnaires.
Working with a recruitment expert will help to streamline the interview process and keep it transparent, objective and robust.
